10/28/2020 was your due date.
10/8/2020 was when you graced us with your beautiful presence.
The first 14 weeks you gave me morning sickness, it was terrible — I prayed everyday that I wouldn’t throw up in the Starbucks drive thru on the way to work, but once those 14 weeks were over the pregnancy was smooth sailing.
35 weeks came and I hit the wall just like I did with your brother and I couldn’t wait for you to be here and not be pregnant anymore. I was uncomfortable and exhausted.
Week 36 came, I was 3cm dilated, 70% effaced and convinced you were going to come any day one way or another. I kept walking trying to get the predomal labor to turn into real labor, but it didn’t work.
Week 37: I went to see the doctor and I was 4cm dilated. Still not enough to go to the hospital, but far enough along to have a membrane sweep. He warned me that cramps and back pain were normal and if I didn’t have you within the next 24/36 hours, then it didn’t work. I left and went to pick up your brother and we went to Home Goods. I was walking around and my back was starting hurt and I was starting to cramp, but I figured this was side effects from the membrane sweep. When Dad got off work, we drove to Ashland and got Masala for dinner because I joked with him saying the spicy food would help put me into labor. I was still cramping and my back pain was increasing, but I still thought it was just side effects.
Once we were done with dinner I was really uncomfortable and decided to take a bath to try and relax. The contractions started increasing, but I still thought it was prodomal labor because my water hadn’t broken and they weren’t as intense as when I had your brother. I laid in bed and the pain stayed the same until around midnight when my back was hurting so bad I started crying, but again — thought it was just side effects of the membrane sweep.
I woke up the next morning, October 8th, 2020 and could barely stand or walk my back hurt so badly. By 9am I called your Dad and told him to come get me because the pain was so bad I wanted to get checked at labor and delivery.
When we arrived I was 6cm which meant it was baby day. Daddy and I were so relieved. The nurses quickly admitted me and got me into a room where I got the epidural and they broke my water. I waited for 2 hours and had only dilated to an 8. The nurse suggested I lay on my side with a peanut ball in between my legs to help open my pelvis so you had room to slide down. Within 10 minutes I felt you slide into position, it was one of the weirdest feelings, but when the nurse checked, you were ready to come out! Dr. Mills made it just in time to deliver you. I pushed for 2 minutes and once Dr. Mills got your shoulders out, he had me grab you and pull you on top of my chest. Daddy cut your cord and we were so elated that you were finally here with us.
At first you had a little trouble regulating your temperature but once we got you warmed up you were good to go. You weighed 6lb 12oz, you were 20in long, and born at 2:58 pm.
