Jason recently turned 40 and I surprised him with a trip to Orlando! He has been wanting to go to Star Wars Galaxies Edge, but Disneyland has been closed, making Disney World the only option.
The first two nights of our trip, we stayed at the Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa, (hosted) a certified Good Neighbor Hotel for Disney, in a 2 bedroom suite. When our UBER dropped us off, we walked into the lobby which had hand sanitizer and markers on the floor to stay COVID compliant. The lobby had many different brochures for all of the local attractions. Once we checked in, we made our way to the 5th building where our room was located, taking the elevator to the 10th floor. Again, there were hand sanitizer dispensers for us to use.
Our suite was huge! It was a two bedroom, 1,080 sq ft suite that can sleep 6 (we both said we should have brought the kids since there was so much room for just the two of us). The suite had a full kitchen equipped with dishes, flatware, and glasses. There was a washer/dryer and a starter packet of laundry detergent. The master bedroom had a king size bed and jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom had two full size beds, and the living room had a sleeper sofa. I could walk out onto the private balcony and get a view of the Pirates Plunge pool. You can view the room tour here.
The pool had a zero-depth entry, a giant pirate ship with slides, waterfalls and water cannons. There was also a Tiki Bar and Lani’s Luau for food and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are served here). Looking at the pool from our balcony, you can see that it’s in the unique shape of a seahorse. How cool is that?
Before we checked out, we got to head to the Reflections Spa to relax a bit after walking 6.5 miles at Disney the day before. Reflections spa is a full-service spa that is open Thursday- Sunday during COVID. I had booked our appointments online months before we went on the trip and the spa had so many packages that you can choose from. It was hard to pick, but we ultimately chose the couples massage. We got to the spa early and were able to check in, change into our robes & slippers, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. It was exactly what we needed to relax our sore muscles and get our day started!
